Rewriting the Narrative — One story at a time.

The goal of this publication is simple: highlight the experiences and intersectional existence of women, trans, and nonbinary persons with disabilities around the word.

Too often, we are left out of mainstream conversations around gender while simultaneously suffering similar underrepresentation in discussions about disability. Traditional narratives of gender and disability strip us of key facets of our identity and relegate our intersectional existence to the margins. We are here to reclaim our identities, celebrate our full humanity, and be the ones penning the chapters of our lives by taking back the narrative and openly exploring our experiences with gender, disability and everything in between.

This is our space — blank pages — and here we will start rewriting the narrative.

Accessibility isn’t one size fits all

Rewriting the Narrative is specifically designed for sharing stories from the intersection of gender and disability. Equity, inclusion, and accessibility are central to building and maintaining this space.

While we have taken a number of measures to build an inclusive and accessible space, individual needs vary.

Please reach out to the Women Enabled International communications team with any questions or accessibility needs at communications@womenenabled.org.
